A Day in the Life of WebNow Operations – Part One

The System Engineers and Technicians are normally the guys in the background, oiling the wheels to make sure everything works. Most people don’t know we exist, until something goes wrong.
We are still around and have been working very hard in the background to ensure all our services stay up and running, but also build and improve our current services.
The beginning of the year, we focused on improving our current solutions before we even considered upgrading or rebuilding. Our core tasks were to do the following:
- Improve Customer Support
- Improve System Performance
Improve Customer Support
We focussed our efforts on improving our communication methods with our clients. This brought around an overhaul of our Helpdesk Ticketing System, phone and incoming IVR system as well other various communication methods such as Skype, and MSN Messenger.
Each WebNow Engineer or Technician has trained understanding of web applications – this unique advantage means that if you contact us for help, then we will help. We don’t believe in passing problems back and forth between developers, with the excuse that we just host the site and nothing more. We even have advanced developers on site that can provide even more experienced assistance, should we need it.
Improve System Performance
Any system is useless unless it is up and working – we strived to refine our systems to make sure we make full use of every CPU cycle, MB of RAM and network packet. We implemented a lot of new automated systems that saves our Engineers time for daily chores and let them focus of core issues.
Our knowledge in web applications also provides us with a layer of knowledge that aids us in ensuring the improvements we make are to the benefit of all web applications and not just Best Practices.
We are always looking to improve and the Internet realm is a very dynamic environment, so things change day to day – just look at how MWeb woke up one day and decided to turn the whole ADSL market on its head! We are always looking to improve and make things better – and we do encourage you to make sure we live up to this.
